Collect for the Twelfth Sunday after Trinity

Almighty and everlasting God, who art always more ready to hear than we to pray, and art wont to give more than either we desire or deserve: pour down upon us the abundance of thy mercy; forgiving us those things whereof our conscience is afraid, and giving us those good things which we are unworthy to ask, but through the merits and mediation of Jesus Christ thy Son our Lord; who liveth and reigneth with thee, in the unity of the Holy Spirit, ever one God, world without end. Amen.

Music: Sufjan Stevens

Partly because the combox has gotten a bit more intense than usual of late and I thought we could use a change of pace, but also because it's Christmas and I'm extremely fond of it, I am sharing this song by Sufjan Stevens. He's about the only artist I've run into so far whose Christmas albums are actually interesting -- they certainly maintain his wonderful blend of folk, indie, and pure experiment. And this particular one, with its accompanying cartoon, is just adorable.

  1. Absolutely love these albums and could go on and on about the standout tracks, but I'll say for now that "Christmas in the Room" is a poignant favorite.
