Preface for Paschaltide

It is very meet, right, and our bounden duty, that we should at all times, and in all places, give thanks unto thee, O Lord, holy Father, almighty, everlasting God; but chiefly are we bound to praise thee for the glorious Resurrection of thy Son Jesus Christ our Lord; for he is the very Paschal Lamb, who was sacrificed for us, and hath taken away the sin of the world; who by his death hath destroyed death, and by his rising to life again hath won for us everlasting life.

Music: Sufjan Stevens

Partly because the combox has gotten a bit more intense than usual of late and I thought we could use a change of pace, but also because it's Christmas and I'm extremely fond of it, I am sharing this song by Sufjan Stevens. He's about the only artist I've run into so far whose Christmas albums are actually interesting -- they certainly maintain his wonderful blend of folk, indie, and pure experiment. And this particular one, with its accompanying cartoon, is just adorable.

  1. Absolutely love these albums and could go on and on about the standout tracks, but I'll say for now that "Christmas in the Room" is a poignant favorite.
